A Remix in Which I Sample Goddard’s “A Band of Outsiders”
This is my remix of “School Colors” by local band, A Band of Outsiders.
Their music, including the original, can be found here: http://abandofoutsiders.bandcamp.com/
The remix includes a sample from Goddard’s “A Band of Outsiders” at the end of the song. The scene where Odile recites “Les Poetes” on a bus is the scene sampled.
I sampled Goddard for a remix of a song by a band named after a Goddard film. Precious, I know. I don’t care if it’s terribly pretentious because I think it works.
On a side note, anyone have any tips for bouncing files from Logic into Wav files that aren’t so large they cause Soundcloud to crash during uploads? I’m looking for advice on resolution combinations that cut the file size down but don’t compromise too much on sound quality. This file is AIFF, which sounds better than a MP3 file but nowhere as great as a WAV file.

Athey Road “Limon”
Found this while exploring the “chillwave” tag on Bandcamp. It’s a simple but lovely and well-produced track. And you can download it for free from Athey Road’s Bandcamp page.

Toro y Moi, “New Beat”
I managed to snag two tickets for his show with Braids (who are amazing live) on Tuesday night. I am going to see Braids again because I think their singer/lead guitarist is awesome and I love her vocal delivery.
As for the Chillwave genre, I have a hard time with it. I really like Washed Out but I can’t stand Neon Indian. So, yeah…Toro y Moi is sort of in between the two for me. I did, however, listen to his set on KCRW’s “Morning Becomes Eclectic.” Toro y Moi sounded fantastic, especially backed by a full band. That bodes well for Tuesday’s show.
I also really enjoy Toro y Moi’s remixes of Washed Out’s “I Feel It All Around, Me” , Radiohead’s “Nude” and Tegan and Sara’s “Alligator”
And these remixes of Toro y Moi’s “Still Sound [Teen daze Remix]” and “You Hid [Daedelus remix]” are great too.
