Happy Belated B-Day, Michel Foucault. Oh, Louis Althusser’s birthday was on October 16. I feel like there’s some kind of joke to be made about Libras and critical theory. Someone should go ahead and make it for me.
This reminds me of an idea I had in graduate school to throw a costume party that required people to dress up like their favorite theorists, a particular theory or a canonical work in the field of theory. This idea was shot down by fellow UChicagoans. Of all places, seriously! I would have rocked The Protestant Work Ethic because Discipline and Punish would have been too easy. Maybe this idea will be revisited in the near future. I could dress up like Snooki and tell everyone I’m The Culture Industry.

“The Structural Transformation of the Public Sphere” would make for a pretty good abstract costume, if done right.
